long time

it's been a long time since I've updated. Haven't played much due to a variety of reasons. I also had to cash out $1000 to pay some bills. Hopefully I can get in a sick number of hands before August is over, otherwise I'll fall far short of my monthly goal for hands. Fortunately I'm still rolled for $100nl.

My banker yesterday told me that he busted out of the Sunday Million that he entered from a "shotgun" tournament. I felt it better not to correct him, as he is setting me up with a credit card.

halfway through july

As stated earlier, I didn't play enough this week. However, these are my stats and graphs for July:

Today, had a great session, with the exception of a bad suckout near the way end that put me on enough tilt to stop for the night.

Can't play tomorrow (Ken's sendoff party) but Tues-Thurs should involve heavy grinding, as this weekend will again probably not give me much time to play.

what the fuck is the IGC anyways

grinds

I have three projects that I am working on all summer.

Grind #1: the "9-5"

I work in a chemistry lab at my college, attempting to synthesize a molecule found naturally in sea sponges that will hopefully have similar beneficial properties in humans that it does in the sponges. I start between 8 and 9 (usually), and go home between 3 and 9. It is really fun and interesting to me, and my lab friends make it bearable on the bad days.

Grind #2: Running

I try to run every day, as I am planning on running cross-country for my school in the fall. This is the first time that I've ever been serious about getting in shape for anything, and so far it's been going okay, especially when I don't play b-ball and sprain my ankle nineteen times.

motorcycle drive by

It is July 4th.

I slept last night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

At 3:30 a.m. I decided to start playing poker.

It is now 8:30 and I am taking a break to eat, shower, and clean up around here. There are a bunch of little bugs. I think I need to throw out the trash.

I am going to drink later today. This should be interesting.

end of june

This is my cash game graph for June. I played 1000 of the 2500 hands today.

To put this in reference, most people play around 30k hands/mo. I'll try to get somewhere near that for July.

My first session at 200nl went well (+$220) and it could have been much better.

running bad

I would post every 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 and worse that I lost today, but it wouldn't make sense to some of you, and the rest of you have seen it all before.

I missed the FT in all 30 tournaments I entered today.

blahh

No update on the raccoons. I guess that's that for them. My mom is going to get a chimney plug soon.

Here in Saint Paul, I'm working full time, running, and hanging out with friends. It unfortunately leaves little time for poker.

The World Series of Poker recently announced that the final table from this summer will be played out in November like some sort of reality show. While I think it's a very poor move on the part of the WSOP, I'd like to wish luck to Tom, Gabe, and Joel regardless.

A few weeks ago, a doppelganger sat to my right.. He proceeded to stack me on the second hand that I played, KK < 99.

Hopefully no more R2D2's show up today when I play tournaments.

home

Back in Saint Paul. In Maryland, the raccoons reportedly haven't made their way back in the basement. Here, I'm tooling around outside and at work too much to get any poker playing in. Maybe on the weekends.

I'm living in the dorms until August 1.

raccoons III

We apprehended the mother today. She was extremely quiet. There are at least two more children about. The marshmallows came through as the winning bait. Apparently they come through chimneys and chew their way from the fireplace to the duct system where they can get "anywhere in the house." I need to get a digital camera that records video with sound.

raccoons II

I haven't caught any more in the past couple days. In short, the trap that I borrowed from the town of Cheverly pretty much sucks. Two nights ago I put chicken in there, and the raccoons waltzed in and ate it and left the trap unharmed. Last night, they ate the pancakes, and then somehow the trap tripped but there was no raccoon in there.

I have to keep telling myself they aren't outsmarting me.

My father, in his infinite wisdom, left the laundry room door open last night. The mother raccoon made another expedition upstairs this morning, scaring the hell out of my mom while she was blowdrying her hair. "I shrieked," she said. "She [the raccoon] looked surprised. I didn't realize they had expressions."

What's the new plan of action?
1. Fix the trap somehow
2. Get a new trap somehow
3. Figure A

raccoons

There are several raccoons in our basement. Here is one that I trapped. There are at least three more. After this little guy was caught the mother found her way upstairs to our main floor and tried to knock over our trashcan before scampering back downstairs. My dad thought it was our cat until he remembered that we don't have a cat anymore.
